I’m looking for a script able to export geometry from Unity to some standard file format, which could then be fed into an external tool.
We need that since our game designer is thinking about creating levels in Unity just by using boxes; when the level design draft is complete, we would have our modelers dress it up with models and textures, so it would be nice to get the rough level out of Unity and into Maya.
I could of course make him model in Maya in the first place while having the .mb file placed in the Assets folder, so he would just save and switch to Unity to see the changes, but it would be better to avoid switching entirely, plus importing bigger .mb files actually takes some time.
