Export Problem

Hello unity3d i have problem with exporting my characters everytime i have a character exported into from blender he looks funny.Meaning his head is not straight its all misshapen and also when i export the animations my head it looks like its all over the place in unity( i hope this make sense).Does anyone knows why? If you do please tell me how i can fix this? Also is this a blender or unity problem or both?

What file format are you using to import it in to Unity?

fbx

Why not try to drop the .blend file right in your asset folder and see if it does te same thing.

Nope that didnt help.Anything else in mind?

More than likely neither, probably just settings. My guess that you have applied some things like plugins/transforms. But it could be any number of things. Send me/post the blend. I’ll be able to tell you where the problem lies.

is this good?

It’s hard to tell from just that. If you can post/send me the blend, I can get a better look inside. Barring that, I would to make sure all your tranforms are applied, all modifiers (except aramature/rig/ect) are removed or applied and that you don’t have any extra constraints. Also, I usually remove anything from the blend that isn’t part of what I want to go into unity from the file. (lights/cameras/extra parts/unused rigs/bones/etc)

ZENblend - Download - 4shared? you mean like this?

Ok, I took a look. There are a lot of things going on there that is causing your problems. Nothing that isn’t fixable, but you are going to need to do a fair amount of clean up.

  • There are a lot of elements in that file, like the planes, another model and some floating parts. (there is a big sweater way up high)
  • The only animations I could find in the .blend file were for the female model rig, not the male. He has a rig, but there are no animations associated with it.
  • The blend weights aren’t very clean, that is what is causing the distortion. (see image)
  • Armatures are applied multiple times to many of the parts.

What you should do is duplicate the file, and strip it down to just the character you want. Get rid of all the extra parts. The male’s rig seems in pretty decent shape, just clean up the bone weights to prevent unwanted distortion. He is low poly, and put together pretty well, so no real problems there.

Clean up the file and add the animations, and you should be able to get it work.

Cheers.
