I have blender version 2.49 and a fighter rigged with bones for the placement of engines and guns. When I export to unity only the mesh is present and not the armature. I did make sure it was parented to the mesh in blender.
Does anyone have any ideas as to why the bones are not being exported?
Are you exporting out of blender, or just dragging the blend file into Unity?
I go to file > export > FBX then select the unity file my game is saved in.
Try just dragging your blend file into Unity instead of manually exporting to FBX and see if it works any better.
I can’t it says “Blender could not convert the .blend file to FBX file”
I have version 2.49 but it says that I need 2.45 or better.
does anyone know why blender can’t convert .blend files to fbx when I drag them directly into unity. I have blender version 2.49.
Never mind I fixed it. Thanks for your help Niosop.
Might want to post what you did for the benefit of others who might have the same problem.
Well I found and deleted multiple copies of blender after saving the .blend files in another folder. I then reinstalled blender. There must have been 4 different copies and 3 versions of blender on my computer. The default cube has a different color than before, not sure if that had anything to do with it.
Unity was then freezing when importing so I just saved some files and reinstalled unity. Then unity couldn’t find blender when importing so I went to the properties of the .blend file and set the default program to open it to blender. Now I can import the .blend files directly and the armatures with it.
