exporting problem from maya

hi,
i have a fully riged character with a breathing animation for my idle cycle. i am currently using maya 2009. when ever i export my model to unity my cog for my character is not recognized by unity. instead of the upper body moving up and down only my legs move up and down as if he is floating is there any way to solve this problem?

By “cog” do you mean a cog shape spline that is used as a controller for some joint?

Often if you are using any sort of handles to control joints you need to bake the animation down to the joints that are being effected. Perhaps a screenshot or a .mb file would help me help a bit more.

here is my mb file and yes its a control i tried baking it in through maya fbx but anim wasnt working unity. since that dint work i baked my animation in unity itself.
