Sorry if this is a rediculous question, but I am working with someone on the other side of the country and we need an efficient way to share projects / scenes.
Surely there is an easy way for her to “package” up all she has done so that she can send it to me with all assets / textures/ scenes etc in place so that all I have to do is bring up the project, double click the scene she saved and boom we are looking at the same thing …
Hey, thanks for the reply but I dont think this is exactly what I am looking for
We have an FTP site so its easy to share files. The problem is that when I bring in her file folders the textures are no longer attached to the assets, the scene is no longer in tact etc …
Could it be that this is actually a Unity version thing? I am not even sure what version of Unity she is using …
Theoretically, if we are using the same version of Unity shouldn’t I be able to simply grab a copy of everything in her project and have everything come right up?
Select a scene, go to Assets Menu / Export Package and it will create a “zip” containing the scene and the objects that are currently into it. This will keep the references between assets.
Dropbox its a very good choice, should never have it open while working in unity. As other similar systems you need to be very careful with you are editing, the other people shouldn’t be working in the same files that you.
If you can count with the pro version, you can use SVN or the Asset Server.
