Extremely long startup (during splash screen) with Unity 5.2

Hi there,

I’m facing a big problem since I changed from unity 4.5 to Unity 5.2.0f3 personal edition.
When I build on android device with Unity 5.2 the splash screen shows for over 20 seconds!!!
I tried again with unity 4.5 and the splash screen shows for about 1 or 2 seconds.

Even from a new project with an EMPTY scene, it’s still the same problem. No idea why… No development build, no vsync, forward rendering path, no realtime GI, 2D project with fastest quality, no multithreaded rendering (anyway with or without the problem is still here)… I also tried to re install Unity.

I tried to build from my windows 7 computer, from my mac mini… same problem! I have Android SDK 6.0 installed, i tried on a galaxy tab 2 7.0 and on a sony ericson xperia play.

I feel I go crazy… i’m stuck in here… don’t know what to do. Anybody got the same problem ?

It’s known issue, we pushed a fix but I can’t guarantee it will make it into 5.2.0p1. The problem is some older PVR shader compiler takes forever to compile one of the built-in shaders.

This is something quite important though. I jumped in to tell this might be a game breaker for android developers  At least it is already fixed. Now pls push that patch!

@bitter unity 5.2.1f1 still got the same problem ?

Same issue on Android 6

I think this was fixed in 5.3 beta, lets see if they fix in next patch for 5.2 and 4.6 if needed

4.6 has no known issues that we know of.

The shader problem has been fixed and released for 5.2 and 5.3. There is another problem that surfaced recently regarding audio. The fix for that will be available in the next 5.2 patch and I believe the latest 5.3 already has it.

Thanks for the update, do you know when the next patch for 5.2 is, they are out of sync and no way to contact anyone these days, so each week its a waiting game. I have another unrelated issue and cannot submit my mobile games until its fixed but I just keep waiting each day?
