Extremely low framerate in Editor play mode with ATI Radeon GPU

Hello all,

I’m using Unity 4 and I’m a very savvy technical user, so I have of course checked for driver issues and installation problems prior to posting this. I have also run other games and they run fine, so I know its not a faulty card here.

I just installed a new GPU last night, a brand new HIS Radeon 7870 with 2GB Ram. The card it was replacing was an Nvidia GTX 460, a slower model to be sure.

Last night before the swap my project ran fine in the editor play mode. 60+ FPS without issues.

Today, I launched my project with the new card, latest ATI drivers installed, and am getting less than 20 fps, often dipping below 10.

The only difference between yesterday and today is the graphics card.

Help? This is a huge issue and if all ATI users will be experiencing similar issues in my game.

In old times - there was a rule - if you swap gfx from ATI to NVIDIA and vice versa - reinstall Windows …

And better advice - did you check in builded game - if you have the same performance? Ive ATI myself and sometimes in editor game works very slow - after running build from exe - perfect performance. Try it yourself. Use FRAPS or some script from WIKI that show FPS on screen.
