Just found this game jam where you have to create a game in a game genre you hate.
Im personally liking the idea, sounds like a lot of fun!

I personally don’t like the idea, I mean I get the point is to get yourself used to working on something diligently and effectively on something you’re not all that interested in - which happens a lot in the world of programming, but to me a jam is supposed to be something you do out of pure passion for the thing you love.
Anyway, that’s just me, I see the merits of it, but I’m not that into it
No, but its just cause I don’t want to do a game jam ATM.
It’s a bit hard choosing a genre, since I like most games… Except… Hmm. There are quite a few genres I know little about today, since for example I stopped playing FPS games after Marathon Infinity (hmm, wait a minute, I did play Goldeneye and Perfect Dark with my friends…) but then again it is hard to not learn things about FPS games since it is such a huge (as in media coverage etc) genre.
Then again, I doubt I will have time anyway so…
Edit: Or a Tower Defense game - never liked those.

I’m imagining it might be fun to a make a game that mocks the genre it’s in.

Its a neat idea. Someone might just make a game they enjoy in the genre they dislike.
The only time I’d ever make a hunting game. Or probably a team sports game.
I would have to think what type of game do I hate. I guess really arty experimental games.
I don’t think I hate any games, so I can’t think of a genre to mock or jam to!?
