Thanks, I don’t remember updating the Hub but it seems to be working now with version 1.6.1

Same error on Hub 2.0, wonder if it’s something related to permissions. the files themselves do open with winrar. I ended up extracting the project folders from the file myself. Guess I’ll run the Hub with administrator rights next time just in case, just to check…

This pointed me in the right direction. Thanks.
In my case the path was not too long but it had a space in one of the folder names. I replaced the space with a hyphen and it worked.

yes name space or to long name solves the problem.
in my case I added underscore and it prompts the error.

That URL is no longer available (404). But … space in the file path (I wanted my repository to be on my Google Drive) was the issue for me as well.

I make my project name without space as well as a shorter path and fix the issue. I do not know if the project name without space is necessary.

After you have created your project close it and remove it from unity hub. Then move the Project folder wherever you want and after that add it back to unity hub. ( Hope it helped )

Esse erro ainda continua na versão 2.3.1, fiz tudo mencionado acima, alguém tem alguma idéia do que poderia ser?
I am also getting this error with all the template files (URP, 3D with Extra’s, and the HDRP).
My Unity Hub is up to date (v2.3.1) and I even did a fresh install of the latest Unity (2019.3.13f1). The only project I can open is a normal blank 2D or 3D project but as soon as I try to select a template of some kind it fails to create the project and pulls up the
“Failed to resolve project template: Failed to decompress [C:\Program Files\Unity\Hub\Editor\2019.3.13f1\Editor\Data\Resources\PackageManager\ProjectTemplates\com.unity.template.universal-7.3.1.tgz].”
This error messages relates when trying to open a URP template but a similar message comes up with the other templates, just the ending .tgz file changes.
No other answers seem to help but I did find a post saying that it is an error that has something to do with Unity’s server on their side.
Please may you advise what I can do further, I am new to Unity so please bear with me as I try get you the relevant files if applicable, as well so any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.
-Edit- I do believe it has something to do with the Unity Hub. Can we not just download the templates instead relying on a server whenever we want to start a project. I don’t see why everything has to be locked behind a server, especially when it causes more problems than solutions.

Seems to be caused the length of the path to the new project. In my tests when the total length of the path to the root of the new project was <= 76 then the project was created OK. When the length was > 76 then I got the above error. I tried with folder names that did and did not contain spaces - the presence or absence of spaces didn’t make any difference in my tests.
Unity devs: this limit is way too short.
–EDIT–
This is with Hub 2.3.1 and Unity 2019.3.13f1.

This was my issue. Has anyone done a bug report for this?

Hi, I am using Unity Hub 2.3.1 and Unity Version 2019.3.14f1 and I am also experiencing this issue. I was able to fix it by changing the file path so it’s under 76 characters, however, I am curious if anyone knows why this is an issue? Is this a bug or purposeful limit? Also, does anyone know if this is a problem with the Unity Engine or the Unity HUB?
Lastly, is there any other way for one to make a URP project from the template without the HUB?
I’v installed Unity in a new place a Folder on the Root of a new HD. and still got the error
So i tried to uninstal HUB and I managed to open Unity but can’t login on the Asset Store because i need HUB.
I instal HUB. and can’t create new projects. But can access the one i created without HUB.
I go go the folder where the file says it can’t decompress and … nothing. there are the 5 .tgz files but apparently HUB can’t decompress them for some reason.
Event he folder that the new projects are trying to be created is in the same Root of the HD. I have no idea why is not working.
I used to have older versions of Unity (2018) and always managed to open.
but since i installed HUB and updated to the 2019… nothing.
