Family Guy MMO with unity!

Amazing!

It actually looks great!

Look in the about page, it says that you need the unity web player to play the game

Looks promising!

Cool, seems like heavy budget game.

Oh, my…

I couldn’t possibly care less about this particular title, but the franchise has enough of a fan base to help push the Unity client.

Any thing that uses the unity web player is good in my books

Then you’d be wrong.

If a user installs Unity web player and the first few games are garbage, which has a very high chance of happening, he might be discouraged about the quality of Unity games and Unity as a platform. People don’t judge something by its potential, they judge by their experience first and trusted opinions second.

Most people never would even notice that after the first title the rest are unity games, most people dont ever unistall anything to be honnest though people dont tend to install things onless its for something special though like Family guy online

It’s true that many people see “Install the Unity Plugin” and just close the tab, which is why I’m happy when I see big budget items. Those people are less likely to say “Unity is garbage” and instead think “That game sucks”. Flash has long overcome this obstacle, but it’s been used for more than games.

I think unity needs to make it so you can choose when building to Mac and Windows to include the unity web player, that would be geat i think

To try and have it install the plugin without the user’s consent?

Yes  or even just have a button that goes like “Install thee unity webplayer to play amazing game directly in your browser”

It’s unethical to install anything without the user making an informed decision. We definitely can’t have people thinking Unity just installs whatever it wants on users’ systems.

Loads of things do it, unity would not be the first.

yea , but loads of things are bloody out right annoying with their hidden agendas … Unity should join this club? I think not IMO

That said, having the webPlayer option to install alongside the Editor on install would be cool, i dont believe it does that, at least i have never seen the choice

Meh, I think having a button to click to install it would be good.

Personally, I’m in the boat of “Well now that the user has installed unityweb, it’ll be there so they don’t have to install it to play my low-budget game” (;

Oh and how can i be wrong? i said “my books” not yours i can think what ever i want to.

I can think the world is flat, but I’d be wrong. You can think secretly installing software on a user’s computer is OK, but you’d be wrong about that, too. =/

That is completely different, but can you prove to me the world is sphere? And how is secretly installing software without permission wrong?
