When making far-distance objects (like hills that are really distant), would you personally make them as gameobjects or just incorporate them into a skybox?

When making far-distance objects (like hills that are really distant), would you personally make them as gameobjects or just incorporate them into a skybox?
Personally I prefer them to be objects, as they will match the lighting and look sharper. In addition mountains in the skybox don’t look right when using fog, whereas discrete game objects will.
