FATALE, a new Tale of Tales

We have just released our second Unity project, entitled FATALE (the first one was The Graveyard -it was a finalist in the Independent Games Festival). And I must say, it was a joy working with Unity on this. Also a big thanks to the people on this forum! You’ve provided us with many solutions when we got stuck on this or the other problem.

Have a look!

I really do love your work. Just like ‘The Graveyard’, this has got me thinking about future projects of mine.

From watching the video i’m not sure exactly what the game/experience really is though… i guess i’ll have to get my credit card out to find out

Keep up the good work…

Matt.

I really liked The Graveyard, and am very interested in this. However, your website gives me no sense of the actual product that my $7 would get me.

Thank you for the compliments.

We actually would like to just give away FATALE to fellow Unity users. But we don’t know how to do that (and prevent abuse). Any tips are welcome!

Not that 7 Dollars is such a great commitment…

What was it like working with Jarboe?

Jarboe has been really great and very enthusiastic, actually. The first time we worked with her, on The Path, she simply focussed on the music (and did a great job too, together with Kris -Amber Asylum- Force). But now she actively contributed ideas and worked really hard. She even offered a recording of her playing with local musicians in Jerusalem for extra couleur locale. She was great!

You a fan?

Hi Johny,

Congratulations on the release.

Very interesting to see you guys are giving Unity another go. When you hadn’t yet released The Path for Mac I asked on the blog about why you hadn’t developed it with Unity, coming on the heels of the Unity-based The Graveyard. The response was that it had been on development since before you got acquainted with Unity, but also that since you weren’t programmers, Unity had a higher barrier of entry to do something more elaborate.

I’d be very interested in seeing a post-mortem, or at least a bit of an exploration on how your learning process with it went.

Cheers!

FATALE is more complex than The Graveyard but nearly as complex as The Path. So we could still handle the scripting. Unity’s implementation of Javascript is quite lovely.

It’s a personal handicap that programming in code makes my head spin after a while. So I will never make anything complex with Unity. That’s a blessing too, in a way. Because, as independent developers, we always need to be looking for ways of making things simpler anyway.

That being said, I’d really like to see what kind of visual programming language people as those who created Unity would come up with. I bet it would cause a small revolution!

bought - downloading…

thanks.
