Cute… but yes, Nighttime is really tough to watch. Perhaps back light the sprite? Ad a bit of moon glow or the like. Something to make it pop. I think a nice rim lit effect on the background would make it really pop as well. But I gather it’s the same background just tinted?

Just a bit of criticism, it seems like the wait between starting a new round and reaching the first barrier is a little too long.
