You left out a lot of genres there…

Well,
I like RTS and simulations ![]()

Yup, I agree with Eric (probably because this thread is not about programming languages
).
In particular, I think in the given context, MORPG would be interesting (smaller scale multiplayer with a strong roleplaying aspect).
I think when comparing MMOG and MOG, it would also be interesting to specify what “massively” means to you. Is a game which only supports a few hundred players per server - but has instances with up to 20 players “massively multiplayer”? Or would you say “multiplayer” (without the “massively”) is somewhat less than 20 players (so whenever you “enter the game”, there’s a maximum of let’s say up to 20 players that you could interact with)?
Personally, I really like large virtual game worlds with depth and populated with enough people that you frequently meet people that you haven’t met the day before. And I prefer fantasy-settings.To me, the “game” aspect is very important (that’s why Second Life and There, for instance, just saw me for a short time).
I also like Wii-style multiplayer games where you can actually interact playing (physically) in the same room. There’s also a couple of single-player games I like but in general, I’m mostly interested in multiplayer.
Much like jashan, I think the question is not well-suited for a single choice.
I like MMORPGs (if only there were good ones around!) more in theory than in reality, because what the trailer promises as deepest, intense roleplaying with thousands of real people mostly comes down to mindless grinding with random strangers who could just as well be NPCs.
I like Wii party games - when I have friends over, or with my girlfriend.
I like roleplaying games (Oblivion, Fallout 3, etc.) - when I have the time.
I like FPS games - every once in a while.
I think very few people only like on genre, or like one genre clearly “most”. For most people it’s at least two favorites, and a few more “depending on circumstances”.
I’m not sure what the genre is called, but whatever Beyond Good and Evil, Super Smash Bros., Mystery Case Files: Ravenhurst, Resident Evil 5, Cooking Dash, Mario Kart Double Dash, Skies of Arcadia, and Worms are, that’s the one I like.

fps or the genera eve online is I believe that is mmo-something not real time strategy game but something
adventure game maybe?
Single player open world RPG - Oblivion, Gothic, Morrowind, Daggerfall…
(Also love Diablo style, like Titan Quest)
I voted for single player adventure but would also cast a vote for RTS and survival horror if they had been listed.
I think it’s ridiculous that people are pigeonholing their interests like this.
Make good games.
Like good games.

I like almost all types of games. If it’s good, I’ll play it. It’s only natural to have specific interests, though–some kinds of games I play more than others. Hence, “what are your favorite types of games” rather than “what are the only kinds of games you play”. I’m not sure what the point of this poll is, however, when 90% of the common genres aren’t included.

RTS > all (starcraft fan here hehe).
multiplayer action rpg
Single player adventure/puzzle and multi-player online.
Strip poker?
Surprised that single-player adventure game has polled so high - thought mulitplayer games would lead the poll ![]()
Don’t get too excited, there’s not a very large sample space yet ![]()
Godsim/process toy stuff (SimCity, Civilisation, etc) is a major category that’s not included - I wonder if anything like that has been done with Unity yet?
SC2 shall be the best rts ever. EVER I SAY!
Hyper realistic FPS. Doesnt mean I’m any good at them though. ![]()
