Favorite console of generation 7?

Hi, I’m wondering what peoples favorite console of generation seven are? and why?

For me mine is the Wii, I love the Wii because to me it truly showed what games were about. It showed that one doesn’t need HD graphics or fast CPU to make great games. The Nintendo Wii was a jump into the unknown… with all the consoles before it was basically a better controller faster CPU and GPU were this time it wasn’t about that it was about giving a new experience they basically ventured into an area that had only been very seldom explored before with devices like the power glove and eye toy. And to make a whole console around this was a very bold move, one that paid off for them in the long run.

But it was not just that they made something different it was how it was used, games like Mario galaxy and Legend Of Zelda: Skyward Sword were some of the best, and I think that this is partly because of the amazing control schemes that fused our actions into the games and moved away from just pressing buttons.

Sorry if im just the odd idiot, but what is generation 7?

The seventh generation consoles, Wii, Xbox 360 and Ps3.

Virtual Boy.

What?

The PS3, it has great games.

I guess you’re a bit too young to know that.

I believe it was sarcasm. Also, seriously, google is your friend. Seriously.

I own all three, and I have to say, PS3 is my favorite. Great games, great graphics, free network/multiplayer. It also had some amazing exclusive titles, like the open world game, inFamous, and awesome games like Fat Princess, Gaitlin Gears and Outland for download. Its the console that has gotten the most use in my house.

Second was the XBox 360, which I bought specifically for Burnout Revenge and Gears of War 2. The XBLA had excellent variety, and I’ve spent a lot of time playing Castle Crashers.

Sorry, but the Wii comes in dead last. I have the Wii Fit, and Wii Sports. My kid enjoyed those for about a week, then lost interest. I also got Help Wanted, which got a little more use, when friends would come over and we’d have a few drinks and play. I also bought some retro games, like the Metal Slug Anthology for my kid, but he beat all of them in a single day and lost interest. The Wii was a cute toy for the family, but I certainly didn’t get my money’s worth.

Actually I knew exactly what a virtual boy is, I just don’t see the relevance.

Like khanstruct, I have all three systems. But while I agree in that the PS3 is my favourite (primarily due to titles released by NIS America), the 360 was the system that I felt I didn’t get my money’s worth from. For practically everything it did, my PS3 or Wii could do so in either a superior or a more cost-effective fashion (coughxboxlivecough). It didn’t help that I really got drawn into the exclusives for the PS3 and the Wii, but the 360’s library was never quite up to snuff in terms of exclusives (at least, IMO).

Wii.
Unless you count PC’s as a console.

No, as PC’s are a constant thing.

Has anyone else noticed the trend that people from Australia (where gaming is crazy expensive) tend to prefer the Wii?

Just an interesting tid bit I’ve noticed.

(p.s : aren’t Wii games as expensive as other games ? :O)

On average, Wii games are about 25% cheaper than PS3 games. The console is also cheaper.

Nintendo has some great games but when push comes to shove any system that requires more than pushing a button or moving a stick is out for me. I’d have to say Sony.

I like the Wii. Nintendo generally makes very fun games. I do also think the dual controller layout (Wiimote and nunchuck) is more comfortable that the 360 controller or PS3 controller. For anything other than a Nintendo game, however, I liked the 360.

You lost me at saying a Wii was your favorite.

What’s wrong with preferring the Wii? It had some pretty damn good games on it, and not everyone has to share your tastes.
