Favorite Programming Albums.

In the name of productivity, I thought it would be interesting to ask, what is everyone’s favorite programming albums?

Now this is NOT a “what is your favorite album” thread, this is NOT a “what is your favorite genre” thread. What this is, is it’s a “What is your favorite programming album” thread. As in, when you went to get shit done, and get it done fast, and get it done good. After you get your cup of coffee, sit down and say “Lets do this”, what album do you turn on, or what album have you found to be highly conducive to programming? I find that for some reason certain kinds of music, and certain albums are very conducive to bringing on a ideal mental state for tackling programming.

This album here has been carrying me through alot of good programming:

Another album, that is a completely different genre than Overwerk, but has carried me through some intense mathematical problem solving is called:
Solar Fields - Random Friday
Something about it I find to be really good when having to think about really hard problems and stay focused.

Also in the same genre as Solar Fields, another great album I use for when I need to figure out some diffucult stuff is:
Carbon Based Lifeforms - World of Sleepers

I am also rather fond of the Above and Beyond Group Therapy Podcast Above & Beyond
Something about cheesy, epic, happy trance music can get me to lay down alot of lines of code. Although, not the best for solving really hard stuff.

Also, from time to time, I find some dark psytrance can be what I need to push me through something. I’m rather fond of this album for that:

No music is far more productive.

Wouldn’t what is your favourite working music be a more openable topic to the forum. True, I guess different fields of work may be more productive with different types of music on the go, for me when I’m doing and form of work it has to be either a 2-8hour long podcast from above and beyond, ‘trance around the world’( which we will class as an album ) or good old John Mayer, born and raised. His old stuff is good too, just haven’t bought the other albums

The VA Trance energy albums.
An in general any progressive trance or tech house…

Puts my mind into a theta state so I can code like a mofo…

I find music with ‘words’ or emotions too distracting.

www.radiotuna.com has a nice little desktop app with all music genres playing on various radio stations.

Zorya - Floex

Got it on the Humble Botanicula Debut Bundle. Helped me through a lot of bugs!

When hard stuff has to get done with a short deadline (= “come at me bro-code”) :

When hard stuff is definitely too hard to respect the deadline (= “who who who, I better take my time”) :

Nowadays II by Crystal Castles,it makes you think you’re a badass hacker from these creepy 90’s movies

Great Album.

I either listen to the Shatter soundtrack by Module or World of Sleepers by Carbon Based Lifeforms. You should also look into artists Shpongle and Vibrasphere. Oh, and Elsiane makes great working music as well. I’ll also listen to jazz, swing, and blues.

Music distracts the living s@#@ out of me unless I’m just making terrain or stuff like it

I can’t do any code with much of any kind of noise going on.
I even sometimes have to only do scripts when my (7yr old = noisey)daughter is in school or in bed.

Smooth pop jazz… Jamie Cullum…

Just in your case… I work almost 24h with programming, and to be honnest if i’m not listening music thigs get bored. I’m more productive with music on

I keep listening to this album for some years now.

I use Pandora Radio and setup a station that fits the mood of the particular game I’m working on.

For example, when I’m working on my cyber-noir title, I listen to a blend of Juno Reactor and Blade Runner Blues.
