FBX Models and their related textures in Unity

Dear Unity Community;

I have exported an animated character models as individual FBX files (one file for each animation sequence for the character). When I do so, I have been exporting the texture (though the Max 09 exporter) along with it.

However, I now have almost a gig worth of duplicate texture files.

My question is, do all the individual @anim FBX files need their own texture, or do I only need a texture for the primary (non - @ labeled mesh) character mesh? I have a number of animated objects in the game, and being able to just use a single texture would be of great help to me.

You only need a texture for the primary.

If you export the animation FBX files as ASCII instead of Binary, and uncheck the “embed media” option then it won’t even bother exporting any texture at all, which saves time having to go in and delete them afterward.

Will do!
I just wanted to be sure it wouldn’t cause issues with the primary mesh if all the “animation” meshes were geometry only
