Hello everyone,
I would like to make this suggestion:
Do not close questions on answers.unity3d.com
I was taking a look at this question for example. Some users like me might have some questions about the accepted answer. Other users might come with a different script that can also be useful to answer the question. Others might want to mention something important that is not included in the accepted answer.
Therefore I think it’s not a good idea to close the questions.
Just about everything you described in this paragraph is not the intended way to use Unity Answers. Unity Answers is about asking a question and receiving one or more answers to it. Comments are essentially little “Post-It” notes added to an answer and not intended for discussions.
If you want to have discussions about the answers (eg alternative ways to approach the problem, why the problem was solved the way it was, etc) then you should be using the forums and not Unity Answers. This is how the forums are intended to be used.
Also, that type of question has only one answer, nothing more needs to added. Other approaches would be a different topic altogether, design/architecture. As the others said, that would be a forum discussion, not an “answer”.
Last I checked closed doesn’t actually lock comments or prevent you from posting an alternative answer. Its simple used by the community to mark something as ‘this is good, no need to spend more work here’.
Thanks for all the clarifications, I didn’t realize that I can actually ask a question about the accepted answer - because “Add comment” is not locked on a closed question
