Recorder is an Awesome package! It has everything needed to record cinematics, film, and in-editor footage. I think the only thing missing from it, is: Being able to record player’s gameplay in real-time, from taking video, and screen picture, to capturing highlights from the game/application. We are currently relying on third party tools to do this job for us, and maybe even paid ones! If only Recorder package has this feature out-of-the-box, it would be complete!
And plus, we’d love to save it in a certain directory, or even let the player choose where he wants to save them! And making it fully customizable, to let it also take highlights in a custom resolution: FHD, QHD, 4K etc.
We need this awesome feature, it would be great and game changer!
Thanks fo the kind words.
This is one fo the most asked for features for the recorder, unfortunately we are the mercy of the Unity Code Video encoder that is inherently an Editor only feature. We are thinking on ways on how this could be made possible
Since you speak of directory, does this mean you are targeting only standalone desktop apps ? (filesystem access on exotic devices is mess)
Thanks for the input and questions. We generally don’t give out info on roadmap features unless they appear on the official Unity roadmap. (This gets technical and legal…we’re not allowed to talk publicly about things until they’ve passed through certain gates). So unfortunately I can’t say much. I will note that this is a feature I’ve been discussing a lot lately with interested parties within Unity. So while I can’t promise anything, it is definitely on our radar.
