Feedback on PROJECT ASCENSION, a 3d puzzle adventure game

Hey guys.

I’m making PROJECT ASCENSION, a puzzle adventure about transcendence & manipulating architecture.

I’ve been working on this game for close to a year now, on & off. I really need some general feedback on it.

To put it short: This game started as a simplified take on a top down Zelda where you move & shoot. It only consists of puzzles (no combat), and you don’t gain new abilities throughout the game. Each level introduces a new concept. Similarly to how Mario is all about platforming, but each level has new concepts & mechanics.

I’m a little timid in regard to the game’s visuals, its perspective, and its simplicity in mechanics.

The graphics style is lovely. I am loving the washed out colors.

Ok I will give you my feedback:

  1. Your PROJECT ASCENSION link which is your website should show more gameplay on the front page.
  2. Graphics are clean/simple/engaging and this is a nice element to your game
  3. You should advertise the game more as a “Portal” game spin off and not Zelda…it is way more like Portal series
  4. Let’s face it only having puzzles you gonna have to have some insanely innovative and thought out puzzles that will be incredibly hard to pull off and that only satisfies a niche of people. I love Portal but it only amuses me for an hour at most and I stop playing forever…
  5. I don’t know why you are so turned off by combat, but I’m loving the Zelda idea to your game and adding items/skills/monsters/boss’s to this game and it could be a truly amazing game with taking the Zelda approach, imo would get too boring quickly without some action. Zelda has amazing puzzles + action!
