Hi All,
After Oak Lane, I’ve created my second #GameInAWeek, Ivo’s Adventure, a simple 2D side-scrolling platformer. Below is a quick video of the game play:
For only five days of development, I’m quite happy with the results, although I had hopped to add an extra level or two. I lost a lot of time messing about with the character collider and physics system (which one can read more about here).
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated as this is only my second ever game (well, still a prototype I suppose…). The game can be downloaded here, while the full source code is here.
The speed and simplicity of the gameplay looks like something a huge demographic (children under 5) will greatly enjoy.
Working on a game a week is an admirable development concept - though I think limiting the development to only a week is also limiting the complexity and difficulty that comes with longer development cycle games. Something that is also important to experience and overcome. But the weekly dev cycle is also a good way to practice the short noncomplex concepts to get comfortable with building, testing, revising and shipping.
You may want to consider spending 1-2 weeks promoting Ivo to the under 5 demographic. Could be beneficial, build a strong following for this game and others in the future created for little ones.
