Hello everyone,
I’m a university student who recently started self-learning Unity. Since English is not my native language, I’m a bit nervous about whether I’m posting this question in the right category. If this isn’t the appropriate place for such a question, I sincerely apologize in advance.
I am using a MacBook Pro with an M1 chip and was working on a scene to develop an iOS app. While saving my progress, I used the “Save As” option and selected my Downloads folder as the destination. A warning message popped up, but before I could read it, I accidentally clicked “OK.” Immediately after that, all my existing files, folders, videos, and photos in the Downloads folder disappeared.
[The files vanished instantly, with no delay, and there was no process window indicating that they were being moved to the Trash or deleted.]
Now, my Downloads folder contains only the newly saved Unity project folder, and I can’t find any of my previous files. Additionally, when checking the folder’s properties, the displayed storage size matches only the size of the Unity project folder. Time Machine was not enabled, so I have no way to restore my files.
I have already tried several troubleshooting steps, including resetting Finder, resetting the Downloads folder, displaying hidden files, and more, but nothing has worked. I also contacted Apple Support, but they told me that if Time Machine isn’t available, there’s nothing more they can do.
Is there any possible way to fix this issue or anything else I could try?
Also, I’m unsure if I’ve chosen the correct category for this question. If posting this here is inappropriate, I truly apologize.
Thank you so much for your time and help!
