Hello Unity people! My name is Sunny and I am an independent artist working with a small team on a grant-funded research project. The purpose of this stage of the project is to translate hand drawn and Blender artwork into an interactive virtual reality environment and to test the initial interactive experience on four groups of two users each.
What I need help with is moving my work from Blender into Unity and making it interactive for VR users. Two people must be able to use the space simultaneously. I will provide fbx files and other art/assets as needed. I am a beginner in Unity and would also be open to a one-on-one instructional setup where you help me figure out how to make this work; or, a more independent setup where I tell you more about the idea and you make it work independently. Some combination of these two approaches would also work.
The concept for the project is to use the imagery of the Cone Worm (see my work here) to connect people who live with disabilities and/or chronic illness. This piece is intended to be an interactive art work that will eventually be shared in public art spaces remotely and in person over the next few years.
You can see some of my artwork and learn more about the project here: http://www.megaspora.space/cone-worms-xr
I am looking to hire one person for a single contract with a short turnaround (deadline is slightly negotiable but this segment of the project funding runs until end of September 2021.) This job has potential to lead to more contracts in the future dependent on funding. This position is remote.
The right candidate will be fluent in English, have examples of past work and be able to work independently and deliver work by the agreed upon deadline. Strong communication skills and flexibility are required as we may need to go through a few iterations as we determine where my work ends and your work begins.
Megaspora Studio is my visual art studio based in Vancouver, BC. I often work independently in mediums such as drawing, painting, book-making, performance, and video, and I also collaborate on curated events and other projects from time to time.
The stipend for this work will be paid half upon signing the contract and the other half on completion of the project. The invoiced amount is based on hours worked and a hourly fee that has been agreed upon ahead of time.
Apply to this position by sending an introductory email and a link to your previous work to sunny.nestler@gmail.com. Please state your hourly rate expectation.
