Hey just wondering how many of you when you bake scene use Final Gather?
I know it’s supposed to make Shadows look amazing.
But honestly - even I can’t tell the difference.

It does help. It makes the first bounce be at baked res instead of precompute res. (the other bounces are still at precompute res though, which is very annoying)
It does introduce some noise though, although the denoising helps (although the implementation is pretty basic)
I’ve been using it, maybe it’s because I don’t have many Shadows perhaps to notice the difference. I just know it gets annoying after I bake the scene, then have to BAKE AGAIN when I run a build for Android. Each time the Final Gather happens, it makes the baking take like 2 or 3 times longer.
Final gather is pointless for what it is worth. Don’t bother. You can get it looking reasonable with just a regular bake.
Yeah.
But one thing I’ve noticed (I don’t normally bake things) but I am for my Mobile VR game.
What is the freaking point in baking in the scene when it has to bake literally again upon the build?
That just doesn’t seem like the correct way for it to work, shouldn’t it just transfer the bake files over?
You mean when you go to build for ‘said’ platform it tries to bake the thing again?
Yeah, exactly.
Did a quick search the best I could find was…
Honestly no I didn’t I figured it must have just been how it was, turns out like the last post on that article says, turn off auto - sure thing it did work!
Thanks man.
