Finished product does not work well on a CD.

Hi,
I just recently published a product in Unity. Everything works fine up until when I try to run the finished product from a CD. When I try to run the finished product from a CD, part of the sounds all get chopped, some sounds play before the picture loads and the sounds play all at the wrong synchronization. How would I fix this problem so that the output of when I run my finished product from a CD matches the output of when I run it from my hard drive or the output of when I run my program directly from Unity?

Is there any way I can prevent anything from happening until everything successfully loads and is there a way I can create a loader screen while everything loads?

Thank you,
Michael S. Lowe

Something similar happend to me some months ago, in my case it was the dvd burner (wich was new, but for some reason was corrupting data) it might be a good idea to give it a shot and burn a new disc in different computer or using another dvd burner.

try to to clean the lens first,it was happened before last week,my laptop dvd burner failed to burn, after cleaning with soft cloth it works again :),this might be non-relevant with your case but it might be helped to increase the burn quality?,another idea is burn using very good burner like plextor, could be expensive but really good result, and try to use non-chinese/taiwan dvd-r/+r even tough it’s verbatim/tdk,i’ve read somewhere it’s known that most of the blank dvd produced from these area not good enough,if you could get the japanese import one.

That probbly wouldn’t explain why the sound plays before the picture. What if it has to do with the speed of when everything fully loads? How would I make it so that the product only plays when everything finishes loading?

Wouldn’t your best bet be to have the product install to the harddisk from the CD? Why would you run directly from a CD?

WTF is a CD? Is that what Magnavox Odyssey games came on?

i don’t know exactly how unity cache and load it’s asset,if you could code cache the asset into client temp directory, and maybe you can e-mail unity support for this but afaik dvd/cd doesn’t have constant read on any drive of any brand,
so it could be the client dvd drive is bad/dirty lens making the read activity more inconsistent ,try to clean it,you can check the average drive read speed,burn/disc quality with nero disc speed : http://ftp6.nero.com/tools/DiscSpeed.zip or http://www.nero.com/enu/tools-utilities.html

i am just unity newbie,so pardon my mistakes.

if you are in windows you can use formerly known filemon(now sysmon) to monitor how the player cache it’s asset : Process Monitor - Sysinternals | Microsoft Learn

nb : if mod feel this is belong to reverse engineering just delete this part.

Burning a game that weight less than the capacity of a CD, on a DVD, is pretty heart-breaking, don’t you think ?
