First game - have a look

Actually I did one small 3D game demo but it was fairly simple. Anyway, this is my first 2D thing in Unity. My seven year old has drawn all the graphics - and named it as well. At school he has a 100 day project and he chose to do it about game development. His presentation is tomorrow and so for the past couple of months I’ve been building level one for him to show.

There’s no sound yet. Nothing happens when you reach the end of the level and enter the portal.

left/right cursor to move, space to jump, r to punch. Or plug in a corded XBox 360 controller and A to jump, B to punch, left analog to move.

You can punch to kill creeper or skeleton, jump on spiders back to kill it. Creeper explodes if you get too close.

Anyone download it? Just curious…

What would I be downloading if I clicked that link? I’d hope it’s a Mac executable, expect it’s a Windows executable, and worry it’s a virus.

If you want people to try your game, you should just build it for Web Player or WebGL, and throw it up on a server somewhere. Then it works on any desktop (and some mobile) platform, and nobody has to download anything.

Thanks Joe! I didn’t even think to specify that it’s a Windows exe, sorry about that. It’s been so long since I put anything on the web that it doesn’t even cross my mind. I’m not even sure where I could put it, I don’t have access to a web server aside from work ones and I can’t use those for personal stuff.

OK - got a cheapo plan at BlueHost and built for WebGL.

Worked in FireFox for me, not in Chrome.

Actually it’s working in Chrome it’s just crap. Plays way better in FireFox. Of course…

You can post games for free to sites like kongregate, itch.io, or gamejolt. I’ve used gamejolt & you can set the game as hidden so the general public can’t play it & then just give the link to people that you do want to be able to play it for you.

Thanks. I have a domain/host for a year now though, so I will just put anything there. But I’ll keep that in mind for when it expires.

… i kinda like the art style…

Hey , thanks! I will admit I did complete some of the little animations, but my kid has drawn >98% of this all by himself. He just doesn’t quite get the concept of keyframes and tweening, so I had to help there. But he will be excited someone liked his art.
