Hi all,
my very first iPhone app is nearing completion, on final rounds of device testing now. I’m aiming to submit it to Apple sometime next week.
I realise Apple’s doc are quite good, but, based on the ‘closing my eyes and blindly’ setting up all the provisioning certs before, I thought I’d quickly shout the community for tips on submitting (I want this first app to go as smoothly as possible).
Do I need to configure anything extra (certificates or privisioning) with apple, and therefore Xcode, to create the build version to submit?
I have all my bank and tax details ready to go. I’m hoping I don’t need to create any certificates etc as this was a minefield for me last time.
Any help for getting app from development to submitting stage would be greatly received, to say I’m nervous about it is an understatment!
I’m looking at Apple’s 112 page PDF now, gulp!
Many thanks in advance,
Matt.
Please check the pretty detailed documentation Apple offers on this topic. It will give you all the informations you need actually
The instructions on iTunes Connect weren’t too bad when I was setting up mine, and the XCode update when iPhone OS 3 came out made XCode heaps easier to switch between targeting development builds and App Store distribution builds.
You will need to create another certificate or two for App Store distribution. The good thing is, you will get instant feedback from the upload process in iTunes Connect when you submit your binary. If you’ve packaged it up properly with the right distribution profile, you get a tick. If not, it gives you an error and you can go back to XCode, change your settings, re-build and upload again.
The one thing I noticed was the screenshot upload part (where you submit up to 5 screenshots)… screenshots 2-5 have to be placed one by one, and I think you need to upload them in reverse order (if you have a particular sequence you’d like them to display).
The only thing that really seems to get locked in place is the keywords field. Everything else is editable so if you don’t get it right first time, you can change stuff.
