Hi, I have plans of making a first person melee game with my brother and we are wondering what engine we should be using, UDK or Unity. We have had a look at both engines and have noticed that UDK can produce higher quality games graphically. We are not concerned with how long It will take to produce this game although we are beginners. Mainly we are wondering what engine will produce the best results and why we should use it? Thanks in advance.
Unity. Only cause you seem like beginners. Also UDK does not produce better games. It’s up to the developers to actually make it happen. UDK just renders better but it’s very hard to develop for it
I find it both funny and depressing when people credit the quality of a game to the engine. There are these things called developers involved, remember?
From what I’ve heard, Unity is more accessible, but don’t take my word for it. They’re both free (to an extent) so download and try them out for yourselves.
Its this sort of thing (no offense to the poster, your concept sounds great) that brings up the old “accessibility is Unity’s mixed blessing”.
