Flame emitter on end of a car configuration ...

I designed a simple ellipsoid particle emitter that I have rigged to be a nice flame thrower.

I want to stick this flame thrower on the front end of a car. When the car is stationary the flame shoots out perfectly.

When the car is moving the speed of car is not added to the speed of flame resulting in the flame shooting back onto the car.

How would I make this work with this ellipsoid particle emitter? There don’t seem to be obvious ways to change the speed of the emitter based on speed of car.

I’ve thought that maybe I can simply adjust the speed of the emitter to the same speed as the car is traveling but I’m not seeing how to do that cleary with these particle systems which I am new to

This thread seems to indicate no. Is emitters exposed to scripting in 4.0.0?
