Flarble Badness

I started this over a year ago and did stuff on t heavily for a bit then in dribs and drabs for half a year and while still unfinished i suppose, i’m making it all known and stuff cause hey why not. It’s essentially the classic Marble Madness with pretty graphics, its free on the android Play store in ogles 2 and 1.1 flavours, i hope you enjoy (And that it works). Id post a video but youtube seems to be broken at the moment

Looks great, I love good old Marble Madness - I don’t have an android, but since it’s free, is there any chance of a web build?

I suppose i could actually! I’ll look into it shortly (It’s already set up for mouse control), but it’ll have a bunch of mobile-related extraneous stuff along with it is all

Cheers, I think that would be great promotion work as well  Looking forwards to it!

Here you go try this out:

The ball will accelerate towards the mouse pointer

Well, here’s a video too for those who might click

at the beginning thought it is strange game
but with the latest post it looks cool i think it will bee cmuch more cool if you made it for IOS/Android

m;

I did make it for android haha, i just made the webplayer because someone asked. Its available for free on the Play store, it may one day find life on iOs

Thanks for the upload - it was a great playthrough.

A few things to consider: I can obviously not say how it would behave on mobile devices, but from the webplayers perspective it might be worthwhile to adjust the movement input sensitivity a bit. I felt that the area close to the ball was almost like a deadzone when I was moving, yet when I wasn’t moving it was imposible to come to a complete halt. I would recommend making a small deadzone, maybe same size as the ball itself - and making the area outside this much more sensitive. On the other hand the area far away from the ball was hyper sensitive - if you got out there the ball would just race way too fast to be any good. There I would recommend having a max speed level.

Well, thanks for the input, its a tough question, most people are happy with it, some arent, most do thing a sensitivity slider is a good idea, which i agree with so that’l get put in when i can motivate myself towards it, it is based on the original game however and its intended to be a hard game, with only 5 levels it better be, so i suppose thats that, i will be putting in a few things though over time, sensitivity slider obviously and some loading screens to alleviate the sense of the ‘hang’ when selecting a level

It was much my learning experience for unity, quite a long one at that, will look back on it fondly but im not too upset about criticism

While all those would be great improvements, I think my biggest wish would be getting more levels. If you make, say 50 good levels, then I’d be willing to pay a small number for playing it. I’m sure others would too!

Thank you mister Pourfoi, it’s great to play this awesome and imaginative piece of game again. You did everything just right, except for the controls in my opinion. I think playing with the Gyroscope does not work great here, even with calibration and settings. The Unity Web Version played better for me.

Yet still I don’t care, i didn’t play it for scoring. I did it just to appreciate again all the original qualities of the game and your lovely conversion. Don’t waste your time until you really feel motivated to. Of course, I forwarded the link to friends, to make some more people happy.
And I wonder. Does Mark Cerny know of this hommage ?

Thanks again for your time and involvement on this, you can be proud of the result. Hope more people will get interested into your work.

Thankyou for that reply Mr.Sun, extremely enthusing to see people are enjoying it. I would love to tidy it up and make more of it although that may have to wait a little while

I actually emailed Mr. Cerny to ask if he minded me making this but got no reply, still, he took head credit so I hope anyone who played this game knew who actually made it. Of course i’d love to hear that he played it and heard his thoughts, good or bad! But I dont really know how to contact him and I dont really want to bug him, even though there are a few moments in the game which break some of his ideas because of the 3D rotation and perspective and attempt to fix them in funny ways.

Thanykou anyway!
