Flashing textures-graphical glitch

I am experience a graphical glitch. When I turn the camera, even though there is one directional light in the scene, the texture on an asset lights up, and darkens. I don’t believe this is a sorting issue as there is no geometry behind it. It seems to only occur on the sides of the camera. Any ideas? I have tried switching materials from diffuse, bumped diffuse, and bumped detail they seem to all occur. This graphical issue only appears when I build to the Ipad but doesn’t show on the computer.

I increased the size of the assets (scale) and the flickering and color change stopped. I am using a 1024 size texture map and am wondering if the previous size was being compressed somehow because of the asset size.
