Fluvio 2 Demo Scenes

Update: Fluvio 2 has been released! Get it here:
- Standard - $50
- Professional - $150
- Evaluation - FREE
- Fluvio 2 Enterprise (Direct from Thinksquirrel.com)

Well, this is nearing release so I thought I’d put a post here:

Fluvio is a fluid physics extension, currently available on the Asset Store (link here). It’s being upgraded to version 2.0 soon (free upgrade by the way, so get it now before the price increases!), with better performance, new shaders, Shuriken/Particle Emitter support, plus a whole host of goodies, like paint decals. It’s compatible with desktop/mobile/webplayer (working on Flash support) - everything except for the shaders will work with Unity Basic as well (there is a fallback particle shader for basic).

Here’s a web demo (you may have to decrease the quality settings, depending on your GPU):

Some images of the demo scenes (photos don’t really do Fluvio justice - it’s much better to see in motion):

Here are some video previews for Fluvio 2. These shaders are outdated and have been improved upon, but if you are unable to run the demos, it will at least allow you to see the fluid physics in action:

Let me know what you guys think! Any and all feedback is appreciated.

I’ll be offering Fluvio 2 as Fluvio Professional (a free upgrade for current users - with source code), along with another new “indie” license option.

Just a heads up that I’m doing open beta testing for the new release. If anyone is interested, send me a PM on the forums with an email and I can send a beta evaluation version.

Hmm I can usually run all demos on this site without any problems regarding performance. This one though goes to down to about 1-2 fps, as soon as the water starts colliding with the ground.

I looks cool, yeah. But I don’t see it being very useful to a lot of people at this performance cost.

How does the demo run for you with the quality settings turned down (from beatiful/fantastic)? The HQ decal shader is very expensive.

If it’s still having issues, I’d like to know more about your CPU/graphics card if possible.

On second try it actually wasnt quite as bad. Between 15-25 fps for the first demo. The second starts at about 30 fps, but decreases with increasing particle number, until it reaches 1 fps…

My Laptop is not very powerful, hands down (it’s 2 years old), I was just comparing to the other demos I usually see on this site.

Personally I’m always worried when adding an extern plugin/shader/extension and immedeatly noticing significant performance drops. But that’s just me, I really can’t put much trust into anything I haven’t made myself…

Right, those are actually very valid concerns. Yours has been the first example I’ve seen where 2.0 performance sees such a sharp drop, though. Do you have any more detailed information about your hardware (CPU model/GPU model/Memory)? I’d like to see if I can reproduce the environment on this end.

Good Luck! Here are my specs:

Intel Core Duo TT6600 @ 2,20 GHz
NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GS
4 GB DDR-Ram
Windows 64-bit

Hides in a corner ._.

Very good work.
I had no performance drops here.

Great to hear!

Also, just as a heads up to anyone interested in getting this, I’ve submitted Fluvio 2 to the Asset Store.

EDIT: Fluvio 2 has been released!
