Folder that doesn't get included in script finding, or publishing?

I typically use TFS or GIT (or the pair now that TFS has GIT) to store all my code, because the projects usually include many folder’s outside the Unity project.

In most of my work, I’m generating DLL’s and placing them inside the project. While the VS solution stays completely separate. If I place the solution inside the assets folder anywhere, all the scripts are picked up from the DLL’s and from the CS files in the solution. (Not what I want)

Similar to other special case folders, like Editor (place code only affecting the editor here), Plugins (for dlls), Resources (for pre-loaded content) etc… is there a folder I can put things that unity debug/build otherwise ignores?

I’m asking because I’m liking Collaborate, but its limited to files in project only. If I can somehow have my VS Solution in here, then collaborate may be a perfect solution for me/my teams.

Maybe StreamingAssets? Though the files would get included raw in the build. I think they don’t get compiled though.

I’m pretty sure that any folder that starts with a period is ignored completely by Unity. “.hidden” would work.
