FoosBall game update

Hi, I am very glad to showcase the first major update to my foosball game. It has lots of improvements on GUI, graphics, sound effects, music, camera position, game controls… Thanks to everyone who gave me feedbacks on the first version. I seriously considered all critics and I hope this version reflects it. As always all feedback and critics are welcome, and will be very helpfull to future improvements of the game.

Hey Lima,

So far so good

I love the music, but that’s not why I’m posting …

Having worked on a similar game, there are a few things that I know can be problematic.

As you know, the ball tends to get stuck - rather than give the player nudge buttons and hope that they can fix it, I found a better solution was to slightly angle the floor around the edges. I had a few invisible wedge / ramps around the corners (at enough of an angle to keep them from getting stuck but not enough to make the ball raise off the ground in an obvious way).

Control of the players is always tricky and comes down to preference more than any right or wrong way. When I was working on mine, every second person who came into the office wanted the control system to change!

I wish that RobotDuck’s old Shockwave fussball game was still online, as it was a perfect example of how to do this game right … he had an automatic switching system between bars which worked really well. Controlling one bar at a time is certainly easier to coordinate.

On the whole, though, I think you’re doing an awesome job! Keep up the great work … if I find ducks fussball game I’ll post it …

I do like that music … where’s it from?

Thanks for the comments, Parrot. The music is from Brazil. That kind of percussion is very popular in Carnival parades and Soccer games.

Hey there Rogerio! Nice to see you here as well. I remember you from the contest we held at 3D Attack  Nice game you got going here. Seems to load a bit long though. Maybe reduce the soundfile in quality to save bandwidth? Textures could be too big too maybe?

Good job so far!

Hey, Thomas! Nice to meet you again!.. Thanks for the feedback. I’ll take a look what can i do to reduce the loading times.
