For educational use only (Unity Student License questions)

The studica site doesn’t really spell out the terms on their sales page so I was wondering if anyone had experience with the student versions of Unity.

  1. What’s required to be considered a student? I’m enrolled in an accredited university full time, not for game development though.

  2. It states for educational use only. So I assume I can’t publish a game built without purchasing a license. Sounds fair enough tbh, but, say I do build an entire game ready to publish, will I only have to purchase the license at that time and then click build, or do I have to install some full featured version and migrate my crap over? Is the student version the full version or is it simple to upgrade to the full version?

  3. Under student pricing, it has 4 different bundles, but 2 of the 4 are only available for Mac, wth, do I have to have a mac to develop iOS/mac games? The only windows packages are for Pro+asset server+android, no iOS.

  4. Could you make a game with a student version and partner with Union? Maybe get unity to split the costs with you :slight_smile:dreaming

  1. That should be enough, usually they just require a current student ID/student email address.

  2. You should be able to just install the license and hit build, but I’m not sure as I’ve never used the student version.

  3. You can build for PC/Mac/Web using standard version, you need to have a Mac to do IOS games. Android can be built from PC.

  4. No idea.
