Forum Burnout

Does anybody else experience what I call forum burn out? After long periods of checking the Unity and UE4 forums everyday like reading your morning and evening papers you burnout from it. Last time it happened was over a year ago. I was much more a fresh noob then so the result of it waswas not doing much with Game Development for two or three months at all. Now I still jump in my Modo or ZBrush tools. I practice various things I’m still learning in both engines and I work on prototype levels. I also, after getting good enough with C# to get around, have moved onto learning C++ online and enjoy all this. But I get a headache soon as I check a forum. Got sick of them.

Having said all that, the Unity, Epic, Zbrush Central, and Modo forums are nicely constructed sites but I can’t look at them for more than a second or two without killing the Game Dev mood I was in:-)

I think this is Gossip.

Usually happens as a result of a bunch of guys debating the deeper meanings of the term “game design” instead of actually designing games…

…I have a lot of games that I’ve ‘designed’, but can’t manage to get off the ground. Some is from lack of understanding, some is lack of technical skill. I’m trying to fix that, I think what you see is not debating the deeper meanings as much as it is people trying to improve their abilities and increase their chances of success.

Ha ha! This gave me a good laugh. Thanks!

I do agree this post belongs in Gossip though. Forum Burnout has absolutely nothing to do with Game Design.

But could we design a game around forum burnout?

I have a bad habit of not paying attention to what section I am in when I post. Thanks for letting me share the thought all the same:-)

There is a game around that already. It’s called “Game Dev Tycoon”.

If it exists, there is a game of it.
