Today when I logged in to the forum, I went through looking at threads as usual, but quickly noticed that the threads that I read weren’t being marked as such. Is anyone else experiencing this? I logged out and logged back in, but to no avail. I can click “mark all topics read” in each forum, but now that has turned into a game of whack-a-mole as threads that I’d previously read are turning up as unread again! Any ideas?
Have you set your browser to not track its history? For example, Safari has a “Private Browsing” mode? That would seem to be a possible cause of the behavior you’re seeing, I know I’m not having any problems as of late (Firefox OS X).
That actually happens to me somewhat frequently…it seems random whether topics get marked as read. If they don’t, then I have to do a mark all messages as read, sometimes more than once. (Safari 3, though the same thing happened in Safari 2.)

Happens sometimes with me, but not as serious. IE6 on WinXP.

Wow, ok, I had no idea this issue existed. For me it all behaves nicely. When I visit, all new threads are marked properly, when I quit that browser session all threads that were new get marked read (so if I quit, then relaunch the browser no threads will show up as unread). Although it behaves as expected I don’t like it as sometimes I want to close the browser but not mark all threads read…
But either way, it’s consistent and expected, nothing like what seems to be happening with you folks.
