Is there an enduser option for making the forum less visually bright? I find myself squinting at it, and the differentiation between light light grey and very light grey is not really enough to make it easy to scan over threads.

Is there an option for fixing/customising this?

nope, no way to control the color template at the time without using browser addons to do so

Do you know of any browser addons that do this?

I use stylish on chrome

you can check the “new forum” thread (or was it the thread?), there a few of them are mentioned
