FPS Demo/Example

Hey there guys,

A few days ago I found an older video I made of an FPS game I started a while back. Well unfortunately the project is dead but it still is a nice video so I thought I’d share what I’ve done with you guys. The gun in the video is WIP/Placeholder and some other elements as well. As said, it’s unfinished and will remain unfinished but it shows what I am capable of art wise.

Really good! Congratulations!

I really liked the use of textures and particles, too bad its never gonna be completed.

Thanks for the comments. Well I don’t have the funds to pay for a programmer so therefore it will remain a demo/video. I am available for freelance work however if somebody has serious offers/projects.

I need a partner for a KINDA Halo based shooter. It’s like a horror space shooter. It’s mainly flood based, but aliens are in it.
It takes place from multiple viewpoints.
1: From a human Spec-Ops Squad.
2: From an Alien commander.
3: From several Civilians’ POV.
It’s a little sketchy and I’m working on it, but if I can get some models in I’ll post them on my topic.

Sorry for being off subject…

The video just reminded me of the game that I’m making.

The lighting in the scene is very good. Care to write a few lines about how it’s done? Is it all baked into the textures? I can see the gun catching some lighting in a few places, but for the most part there doesn’t seem to be many pixel lights in the scene.

I’m thinking about fiddling some more with Unity as I don’t plan on being a web developer all my life and some information about how to create great looking lighting within Unity is nice to have.

Ahh, now things are falling into place. I found one of your older videos showcasing the same environment and it had a link to a site called 3dattack which I thought looked nice. There I found Game Artists Essentials which sounded promising, but when I clicked the image I was directed back to the youtube video. Then I remembered I had already bought that tutorial some time ago.

Well props to you again for the tutorial and I will rummage my harddrive for it and try to create a similar environment myself.

PS: Why isn’t 3dattack linked in your signature when it’s your website? There’s some very nice tutorials and assets there and your “training module” pricing system is very interesting. Buy what you need instead of buying an expensive “Unity introduction” tutorial set.

Some exposure couldn’t hurt.

Hey there Twikk,

I remember your FPS project as well  Glad to hear that you like my project/demo. As for the lighting, that is all BAKED. I used a few realtime lights in Unity but no pixel lights. 3D ATTACK and theunityartist.com are my websites indeed. I should perhaps get 3dattack in my signature as you said

Thomas P.

Hey Twikk, whatever happened your little shooter game? Is it still available anywhere?

Thomas P.

Oh, I remember this. Too bad the project died.

I’ve had way too much to do at work in the last few months and haven’t had any time for Unity. I will try to get it going again soon.

I had to take the site where the webplayer was hosted down because we’re cleaning up the server it was hosted on. I will put it up on another server soon.

I had actually done quite a bit more on it locally without posting any updates in my thread before I took a break from Unity so I will get those uploaded soon as well.

Good to hear! I thought it was pretty fun
