No, those tutorials aren’t “active” in that they haven’t been updated to work with Unity 2.x. But with that in mind there shouldn’t be any “randomized” naming going on at all. What sort of “randomly configured” names are you seeing?
Ignore the above… What’s happening is that this seems to be a case of OS X (Leopard in my case) unpacking the zip file, that contains a Unity package file and it then tries to unpack the Unity package file resulting in a jumbled mess.
Stand by as I’ll see if there’s anything I can do without burning too much time on this one. Sorry, it’s just not my priority task at the moment but I hate leaving folks stranded so I’ll do my best.
The quickest thing is to unpack the archive with another app instead of using the Finder. Unzip from the shell works fine. The next quickest thing is to re-archive the unitypackage by first putting it in a folder, then zipping that, instead of archiving the unitypackage directly.
