FPS Tutorial 2 Downloads

Hey, the link in the .pdf doesn’t seem to be working:

Does anyone else know where I might find them–or is the link just changing with the new website?

For now just download the full example project here:
http://unity3d.com/examples/index.html

I’ll fix the link soon.

hi!

i have been downloading the resources here to begin learning how to make a first person shooter.
http://unity3d.com/support/resources/tutorials/fps-tutorial-part1.html

however, when i download the assets folder, all the names have been reconfigured randomly, so they dont match the names in the tutorial…

are these tutorials are still active?
are there others that i can download to learn how to make a first person shooter?

many thanks!!!

No, those tutorials aren’t “active” in that they haven’t been updated to work with Unity 2.x. But with that in mind there shouldn’t be any “randomized” naming going on at all. What sort of “randomly configured” names are you seeing?

Ignore the above… What’s happening is that this seems to be a case of OS X (Leopard in my case) unpacking the zip file, that contains a Unity package file and it then tries to unpack the Unity package file resulting in a jumbled mess.

Stand by as I’ll see if there’s anything I can do without burning too much time on this one. Sorry, it’s just not my priority task at the moment but I hate leaving folks stranded so I’ll do my best. :frowning:

hi thanks!
i’ve attached a png screengrab.
i’ve been working through the tutorial 1 however, and its been working so far…

thanks alot

The quickest thing is to unpack the archive with another app instead of using the Finder. Unzip from the shell works fine. The next quickest thing is to re-archive the unitypackage by first putting it in a folder, then zipping that, instead of archiving the unitypackage directly.

Bingo, that’s the proper fix on our end for sure.

(stand by, posting a new file for you now)

Edit: and now that file is posted here (53.5MB)

great, thank you soo much for all your help!!!
