Free 3D software? and maybe Blender tutorials?

Hello everyone!
So been thinking about 3D with unity andthinking about moveing into blender. In school I learned how to use maya 2009, sadly I only have the student version at home (Ended school about 2 years ago). Very nice products and easy to use. The problem is that you cant sell your games if you make the 3d models with the student version so i thought its time to move on to a free software, or maybe a cheap but good on.

First that came into mind was blender, but the GUI makes me kind of scared! I have read about some GUI “mods” that makes it look like maya… Im at work right now so I cant really look into it now, no time, need to start working again soon.

So my questions is, blender tutorials for games? Like low poly, beginners and so on? Anyone know any good ones?
Free software, any good ones that have the quality as blender??? Free or cheap is okay .D

XSI mod tool i remember something was called, dunno if it works with unity3d. And sculpris…

Sorry for bad english! and take care all!
Back to work gah! x)

THanks!

That will help you out a lot.

As for making thigns for games, all you need to do is keep your models low and export using FBX. These tutorials cover things like modeling, rigging, and texturing. These are all things you need to get stuff into your game.

As for sculptris, I think the main thing is that you’ll have to find a way to bake the high detail on the mesh to a normal map so that it can be used in game.

Hope that helps at least a litle.

Thanks guys!
