Free Asset to whoever

I have an asset and I want someone to use it and make a video, showing how you used it.

You can see my current static image lacks emotion lol

I want the video, so I can post it on my store page. If you want to do a video review thats good too.

It works in 3D and in VR, is simple, clean, efficient.

So If you want to make either a ‘how you used it’ video or a ‘product review’ video then send me a message on here and I will send you a code (you get to keep the asset for free forever for doing this)

This is the current store page gravityZones

Why not do it yourself and record the video? This is generally expected, and is referred to as dogfooding.

@LaneFox because while the asset itself is really cool, I dont have a game or other content to use it in, I also dont have my vr headset anymore either.

Gravity doesn’t have anything to do with VR. If you want to publish good products, you need to publish good marketing materials along with it. If you can’t, it’s basically confirmation that you don’t dogfood your own products and is a deterrent to buyers.

no but its extra cool  I know I need better marketing material thats why im making this post. The reason I can’t make the marketing materials is because this is back end stuff there’s nothing to see unless you have a game or other content to use it with and right now I have a lot of going on, which is why if I can’t do it myself I thought I would give away some copies to people who do have content the can use it with. They get to keep the asset free for life on how ever many projects they want, so I thought it would be a win win.

There are several legal ways that you can apply to use free or paid 3rd-party assets to:

  • include assets in your package.
  • using references based on GUID to create a demo scene with 3rt-party assets (that are not allowed to be included in your package) and include this demo scene in your package without 3rd-party assets. The user can optionally import the target assets without loosing references.

You can use these assets for free:

  1. Selected Demo Assets by Unity.
  2. Assets on GitHub with Unity Package Manager support.
  3. Assets with CC0 license.

I described them here in more details.

Thanks I will take a look.

great point! Effective marketing is crucial for the success of any product, including VR. If a company doesn’t invest in creating high-quality marketing materials, it can signal a lack of confidence in the product or suggest they aren’t using it themselves. This can definitely deter potential buyers who might question the product’s value or usability. Good marketing not only showcases the product’s features but also demonstrates a company’s commitment to its quality and helps build trust with customers.

Not everyone is “good” at doing videos.
Promo videos do require some patience, time and eagerness!

The problem I have other than time. Is that I would need to create a ton of content from scratch to make this asset shine. To fully showcase its capabilities, I would need to build out several different game levels, including character controllers, weapons and many other systems- I might as well build a whole game.

It’s not that im lazy, far from it, it’s that I dont have the time to do all that, if someone already has their own game, or at least enough existing content where they thought they could use this asset, then it would be preferable to me having to create what is essentially going to be a whole game, when others already have what’s needed or that could showcase a part.

If I dont find someone, then it just won’t get made and I do care about the asset which is why I made it in the first place, I am just one hobby guy and cant make a whole game in my spare time, it takes too long.

So rather than this asset wasting away, I thought others would appreciate the opportunity for a decent product for life in return for a video of how they used it - they get the product and I get some much-needed video footage for my product.

Why this is so frowned upon I dont know. I’ve seen other people who showcase videos of games using their assets, even big companies do this.
