Free Driving Physics?

After searching the forums, going over many demos and the GTA 4 car project, I am in need of some free, or very cheap ($50 or less) driving physics to use.

The car physics that come in the Unity Car Tutorial are decent enough, except the fact the rear of the car explodes out when making turns. Emphasis on grip, and in some cases, stiff, yet bouncy suspension are needed, drifting is a plus but not necessary. (Think Ford F-350 for suspension, sports car for stability, those types of handling)

Anyways, is there anything available? Help is extremely appreciated. I’m down to give some free invisible virtual cookies for any assistance, thanks!

This might be what you are looking for, I purchased it a while back, it’s not perfect, but it certainly makes it a lot easier to import and configure your own vehicles.

Any other alternatives?

Why don’t you simply use the Car Tutorial as a foundation and tweak it to your needs yourself? I think you’ll never get exactly what you want for 50$ or less. This Rigidbody system gives you nearly 100% of control about everything physics!

Well if there is nothing else. What about some information about the rear of the car sliding out. Is there a part of the code that controls it, a way to disable it?

The wheel collider has a sidewaysFriction property — the higher, the less sliding you get.

Wheel colliders are pretty weird… they’re kind of a mutant cross between a rigidbody and a collider, and there are some things about them I’ve never been able to figure out (e.g. when I try to simulate AWD or 4WD I get markedly different peformance from 2WD).

You may also find JCar useful (it’s a C# car controller script):
