Free game, indie developer and the company publisher - license?

Hello!

Friend asked me for doing a free PR game for his company that he will publish it on his www site, ftp server etc.

Is it OK for me to develop and for my friend to publish the game using free license, even if the company income is over 100K$ per year and is not related to the game industry?

Thank You in advance for replies!

That’s an interesting take on it, but I think it is 100k of revenue generated from what is made with unity. But I imagine someone more knowledgeable on the subject can confirm.

Think about this, should Unity charge you for uploading your game to Apple Dev or Google Dev?

I’m pretty sure it’s ok, as long as YOU don’t make more than $100k.

An exception would be, you and your friend sharing the revenue generated by this game, if you are, then I’d suggest you pay for Pro version or expect legal action to be taken against.

This scenario completely depends on who the license holder is for Unity.

If the license is registered to you as an individual/company with less than $100k a year income than it is fine to use the free version.

If the license is registered in the publishers name and are a company with more than $100k a year income (no matter what the industry) than a pro license would need to be purchased.

From what you described, it seems that you are the registered owner of the free license not the publisher so this should be fine for them to host your game made in free.

I stand corrected
