I’ve answered a lot of posts about making fixed function shaders that are specifically geared for the iPhone, and several of these shaders I’ve written have apparently been useful to people. I thought the ShaderLab documentation was enough to teach me ShaderLab, save for a few hardware quirks that I learned along the way. However, a lot of people don’t seem to agree; and I’ve found that video tutorials are the most effective way of teaching me most anything. I think it’s very important, in order to be able to get great framerates, to write your own iPhone shaders; there’s no way UT can supply you with everything you need. Would any of you be interested in me attempting to make a short video series on this topic?
Anybody who wanted to learn ShaderLab would find most of what I have in mind useful; they’d just have to listen to some extra stuff that they wouldn’t need to worry about.
I’m absolutely interested. I ended up having to use several non-iPhone shaders on my last project out of shader programming ignorance and it made me feel a little bit dirty.
