Mini Racing Adventures is more than just another mindless racer, it brings friends and family together. It is a 3D multiplayer side scrolling endless racer in which you control the hero Martin Minimo in his quest to set the world distance record. You earn coins by collecting them along your journey and perform tricks to get bonuses. There are initially 5 unique levels each with their own unique feel, but many more to come. Unlock 10 vehicles and upgrade them to get the biggest baddest racer out there to take on all rivals. Itās a challenge for all ages and a great game to play both online and offline when you want a lighthearted break from some long hours of gaming grind or just a break from work.
Features:
-Online real-time multiplayer versus other MRA racers and your friends.
-Offline single player or against CPU challenge and Ghost mode.
-Smooth and realistic physics.
-Lots of selectable vehicles (Off-road buggy, baja bug, bike, trucks, moreā¦).
feedback:
Android: Really enjoyable!!! Iām spending some time on it. Very nice work!
My only concern is that, sometimes, in the start, there are some flickering and fps drop. This is making flip down the vehicle and letting me lose for free. but beyond thatā¦ it is perfect!
Iām going to download it on my ipad-mini to test (IOS version) and iāll post the feedback here soon!
Thanks PJRM, We will take a look at the flickering. Appreciate the feedback as we are still working on improvements. Iām so happy to hear that you are enjoying the game. Let me know what the longest distance you get is.
Hello @MinimoStudio - My son (age 7) and I (old age) played your game today and I thought Iād come provide some feedback.
My son really enjoyed the upgrade ability of the vehicles and wanted to continue playing for longer to unlock one of the levels.
He wasnāt bothered or even paid any attention to the adds even though he accidentally clicked on the bottom banner several times.
His favorite race type was ghost race attempting to beat his high score while racing along side his best time.
As commented in your other post - I like the graphic and the characters are symbolic which makes it nice when getting to marketing and identifiabiliy.
The brake seemed a bit over powered to me compared to the sensitivity of the gas. I crashed several times laying on the break for only a short amount of time. When pressing the gas to level out for a similar amount of time seemed to be less responsive. I definitely liked the feel of the sensitivity of the gas better than the brake.
Aesthetically the look of the game is fun and playful and the overall lighting and texture work is well done.
As an artist two minor things caught my eye which others may not have mentioned;
The style of the entire game seemed to be consistent except for the foreground/background elements which were full up 3D and others which were 3D cutout objects. The bushes and a couple other things were textured onto skinny boxes which I think was to mimic cardboard cutout objects. I donāt understand that decision, but because of the lighting they didnāt stand out as being out of place. Just ādifferentā.
The lifeless square headed bystanders watching the race seemed out of place to me simply because they didnāt conform to the overall style of the game and in particular the racing characters. The racing characters are an interesting, fun variant of Marven the Martian, whereas the square headed characters just looked a little like filler.
Finally in Ghost race I think it would be cool to race against an actual ghosted version of your best race rather than a completely opaque version - similar to Mario Kart. Also for some reason I felt like the ghost racer in that mode wasnāt really a copy or recorded version of my best time/distance. It seemed to be a racer that went the same distance, but it didnāt appear to make the same mistakes as I had made when I was racing my best race.
Overall great presentation and delivery. Congratulations to you and your small team on a job well done.
Well wellā¦ here my final feedback, but I might give you new feedback upon the updates you might upload.
I played on my Ipad-mini and the game looks very smoothā¦ different from my phone (Android), I say that you should increasy the minimum requirements to play the game on Android.
I guess the flickering problem is because of the Android Version+Memory+CPU.
Iām using an LG-E435F, which have 512mb memory, 1Ghz processor and Android 4.4! To run the game at normal performance, I always have to force-close all the executing apps that is not importantā¦ and 100mb+ memory the game works fine on my Android.
About the game:
The brake/reverse make skid sound on air. Thatās a little bit odd. could make only the sound of the engine as in the air there is no friction.
When I pause, the resume button could gimme 2 or 3 seconds to prepare my self to returnā¦ I press and ā3ā¦ 2ā¦ 1ā¦ā and back, instead of being instantaneous.
Sometimes I got stuck in places the The only option is:
Restart (Which is not a good idea if I have gathered alot of coins)
Wait for the fuel end and lose the game.
This really could have a button to reposition me at a cost. many times I got stuck and I have plenty of fuel remaining. (And most of, alot of Coin either)
On Crashed/Out of Fuel screen, could have a āPlay Againā button to play again the same mode without having to come back to the main menu.
Agree with theANMATOR2b that the āspectatorsā at the scene could have a little of more polishment.
The terrain, the objects and the cars have a huge difference of detail between them.
The cars are fully polished
The terrain have a medium polishment compared to the LOD of the car.
And the objects seem strangely odd compared to the others. Is that right? I would love to see your Design concepts.
Multiplayer
If both players pay 500 coins, why not give more to the winner? Afterall, gimmer more encouragement the playing with other players. Suggestion:
Winner reward: 750 Coin
Lose reward: 250 Coin
More information about the online server would be nice. I could only make one match, but had to wait for at least 50 minuts for someone.
The background could have an animation or even more detail. itās a sad enviroment.
So far thatās it! aahhh and so far I manage to get 3120M of record.
Thank you so much for the response! Iām so happy to hear that you and your son enjoyed it. I will discuss with my team about your comments and suggestions.
Let me take a look at the brake issue. I actually wasnāt aware of that but maybe Iām jaded? But I do want it an easier learning curve so players can get into the game and especially for children. We are playing with an idea as well for the tilt control to increase the speed and control of the tilt, but Iāll look at the brakes.
I actually agree on the bystanders not fitting in with the overall artistic feel of the game. Hopefully we can replace them soon with upcoming characters we plan to introduce. If not maybe better to take them out all together. We love Marvin the Martian hahaha and love the nostalgic feeling he brings.
Iāll take a look at the Ghost Mode and see if it isnāt exactly replicating the race. Thanks for bringing that up. We also want to introduce a mode that will allow you to race against another players ghost mode for a particular level. Say if that player has the top distance of 5288km you can play against their ghost.
Thanks again for your feedback and if you or your son have anymore suggestions or critiques please let me know. Itās very valuable to have the community let us know what we can do to improve.
Thanks for all the input I will discuss with the team to see what we can do to improve some of these issues. With the Android versions we may have to put some minimum requirements as there are so many out there hard to optimize for one device.
Iāll bring up the airbrake issue lol. Totally wasnāt aware of it.
Iāll talk over the pause issue, I guess itās a matter of preference as some people want to get back in right away while others may feel they want to be eased into it, no right or wrong in that but worth talking about.
I kinda like your idea of exchanging coins when stuck to get dropped at a neutral point. Let me discuss with my team regarding this.
Good idea on the āplay againā button. I think this is something we can do for the next update =)
We wanted to keep the download size to a minimum, we could have detailed everything the same but then it ends up creating a much bigger download. Had to sacrifice something.
We are having ongoing discussions on the reward for multiplayer. We are even discussing introducing a second currency to unlock special vehicles, characters, etcā¦
We do need to work on the online matchmaking more. I want to add just an online mode where you enter without selecting a level and it will just automatically match you up. Still working things out.
Nice distance! Thanks so much for the feedback, we appreciate all the support! If you have time leave a review an honest one of course.
Regarding to āWait time after resume pausedā, An option to select how long will wait until resume.
from 0 to 3 seconds
In the few seconds between the crash and the crashed screenā¦ alow a camera button to take a picture of our failure. sometimes itās so fun that I would like to share how I crashedā¦
Today iām leaving the review on both android and Ipad. Both will be different regarding my own experience as a player not a GameDev.
Bug Report:
Iām using the Quad vehicle and I got stuck with the vehicle inside the wood when I was in the air.
I guess it may be the colliders. maybe there is a space that allowed in a certain angle to fit the vehicle inside the wood.
Maybe the repositioning for a cost can be a solution for this kind of trouble, but still a bug.
āEditā indeed it is a bug. Here again, this time with a Black Widow:
I guess it may be the collider on the woodā¦ but the spring juntion of the tires may be giving the necessary distance when in the air to fit perfectly on the plataform.
@PJRM_1
Thanks so much for the feedback! I actually really like the photo idea of epic fails. Maybe we can get that into a future update. Thanks so much for leaving reviews! We donāt expect top reviews just honest ones =) and your input has meant a lot to the team.
The stuck issue we are aware of and are working on it. Itās just one of those things in a laundry list of stuff we will fix, I do apologize that it has happened, itās gotten me stuck several times lol. Yeah I liked that repositioning idea, we just got to work it out to make it happen. Might not be in next release tho. Let me know if you have any other problems?
