Quick question, are there any plans to have some sort of a friends list system with the Unity Multiplayer Services?
Though we don’t have specifics to announce right now, we’re looking at a lot of features we can add to the service. User feedback will help us with those decisions, though I can’t make any promises about how and when anything like this would arrive.
Could I ask what your plans would be for a friends list and how you’d like to incorporate that into your games?
Honestly, for me a friends list is just an easy way to party up with friends and family. It would be great if it offered some basic chat functionality, but more importantly, an easy way for you to join a game one of your friends is already in, or a way to create a party and join\create a game together. I would have the friends list right at the main menu, so when my game opens, the user can see which of their friends are online, and with a click, they can join their friend’s game.
My understanding now is that if two or more people want to play a game together, one person needs to create a lobby, then somehow tell his friends the lobby name, and they look for it in a list and join it?
The dream you guys are selling is awesome, to be able to play online, cross device is amazing, but i think it would hurt the online experience you are selling if (we)developers can’t easily let our users play with their friends.
