Frozen at loading screen.

I’ve used Unity 3D many times before, and have downloaded it to my system on many separate occasions for various reasons. However, after my most recent reformatting, I cannot get Unity 3D to run correctly.

If I uninstall it and reinstall it, it will open maybe once or twice, but it will completely freeze whenever I attempt to import an asset, regardless of how simple it is. After opening the first couple of times, though, it doesn’t even load at all and I have to uninstall it and then reinstall it.

I’ve tracked down a problem from other forums where they advise adding an exception for Unity in your system’s Data Execution Prevention and it should run perfectly fine. I have done so and it still will not open.

It won’t get past the splash screen that pops up in the center of your screen when you open it and the application itself closes, though a process continues to run for it and the splash screen remains until the process is manually ended in the task manager.

What could be the problem here and what are some potential fixes?

Thanks in advance.

For what it’s worth, I’m running on a Windows 7 64-bit machine.
