Frustrated with Remote

At home Unity Remote works fine. Here at work I can’t get it to work reliably. It works for a while then stops, then won’t find my machine.

maybe you could be having network problems?

or maybe a firewall prevents you from connecting ?

No… I’m doing a “Create Network” from my Macbook and connecting to it from the iPhone, so it is a direct connection. However, it just doesn’t work well. I think there are too many other wifi networks in the area causing conflicts (?).

mhmm, could be, not sure tho :S

Can be too many other Wifi (commonly more the wrong channels though, if there is a network on channel 6, add your own on 6 ± i*3 to not run into interference) or just too much wireless transmission in general.

Also one of the most common errors is beeing to close to the antenna in which case it can stop to work, especially as beeing too close also has a direct impact on the orientation requirement (normally the antennas must be parallel, at further distance thats far less important than when you sit right on the antenna as you do).

do mac or iphone have their bluetooth transceivers on?
may be too much wi-fi/bluetooth networks around?

Neither the iPhone or MacBook have bluetooth enabled.

Sounds very much like too much noise on the wifi. We suffer from it at our home office to the point where the remote isn’t actually much good most days.

Just occurred to me that if unity can make it work through bluetooth this issue would be gone since bt is short distance. Wonder if there’s any chance of that? does apple allow it, I know it prevents wired access :frowning:

we have some plans for unity remote. we want to improve it and will do our best as soon as we find a way that is good enough for both us and apple.
