(Full solve: (Line draw+Auto-extrude) CC0 Unity + better Blender version (+cheat sheet addon)) 3D Generator for simple unrealistic "outblock" meshes?

Forget about all below here is the code solution for the topic:

  • And take note for high-poly that Microsoft Trellix have free online demo(don’t know about license here) and Stable Zero123 is a free commercial tool until you reach 1 million dollars annual revenue of your projects. (if the guy in replies read it corrrectly, did not recheck)

  • That can be installed locally even on your Windows 11 with 6 Gb of VRAM!

  • (But installation is hard)

  • Note that any current AI/auto topology is bad.

Here is the better Mesh Extruder version, but for Blender (Though it is N-Gon)
Mesh Extruder latest.zip (3.1 KB)

Here is the cheatsheet addon for Blender, if you want to do it so called PROPERLY (also from AI, except text inside):

Edit:{ If you are after making your own voxel or minecraft like model and don’t wanna mess with complex quad even topology, you can just use free Blockbench or something (dunno why no one mentioned this or other and talked about Blender which is for high-poly modeling mostly.
P.S.
Though this one doesn’t quite suffice my psychedelic artstyles) }

If you have any questions about the Extruder or the Blender cheatsheet, feel free to PM me, it is open. Do not spam in this topic, please.

  • My skills:

  • Modeling: able to make ugly topology, textured Glock in 20h

  • Code: i understand it when looking long but when do manually i can spend 4+ hours on just ~100 lines.

  • Other excluding orienting in unity:

  • Mostly Complete Zero.

P.S.

I lost sleep for 3 days after this forum and broke my keyboard yesterday with wet cleaning.
Please, do not fool around unrelatedly here. Topic is about easy ways even if the result is an unfixable mess for proper AAA future use in the end.

Old:
For instance, I need a boot, just a simple low-poly boot, not literally 2 cubes but something around 100-200 tris.

Does nowadays something like at least blocky style model generator exists?

Even text GPT can give code for stuff like fences if you correct prompt it, so my guess something aside Shap-E exists.

Its not that easy to find CC0 boot, that fit requirements.

P.S.
Yeah, I could make it for about 10-20 mins, maybe less with Skin Modifier in Blender, but if i need 100 other stuff like that it is getting crazy

Edit:
By the way can I bake to image vertex textures that Shap-E gives?

Edit 2:
Kinda related, can I fix lighting issues with ProBuilder easily, or i should just not spam huge long walls and continue to break them down to smaller to fix it?

Edit 3:

Okay I convex hulled 2 parts and decimated the boot to .0357 and got 207 tris. Trellis at least is kinda the lazy way to do it, though i spent on fixing to this 17m:

Kinda have the same feel as this from me with 2h7m, even better considering the needed low-poly style:

Edit 5:

Trellis require Linux OS’s to work, but has online demo.
The Zero123 seems to be able to install on Win 11 at least.

Edit 6. P. S.

Should ve mentioned i need it for prototyping purposes i d be happy even if it was flat quads

Edit 7.
Everything paid goes off the line.

All 3dgen AI stuff is garbage. In the amount of time you will spend trying to find or make anything that isn’t garbage, you could have already finished these models yourself. Alternatively, you could hire a 3d artist.

Or just learn to 3d model yourself.

well THIS is the reason why I want something like it, because i overdid it and spent 2 h 7 m

On this mess with box projection UV:

I could’ve just stopped with the 4 lines with skin and subdivision modifier, my game consists of cubes, basically.

P.S.

Oh, well I shouldn’t have whined and just decimated and slightly corrected this model from Shap-E by “boot” prompt.

Though on some more complex or other things it usually gives uncorrectable mess, that is faster to make yourself by scratch.

So… get better at modelling? Practice? I dunno what to tell you. There’s no shortcuts when it comes to this sort of thing, at least not the ones you want.

btw it is getting messy when you use multiple programs, after FL i already forgot about all shortcuts in Blender and almost pressed ctrl alt z instinctively in it, lol.

In this case the proper shortcut would be to learn how to make very lowpoly but proper models with perfect UV’s

(Though currently I can just spam single color mats on needed faces, even less weight then textures)

I’m working on a pet project for this actually. There are a few open-source AI 3D model generators (Stability AI, Microsoft, etc). Unity seems like the perfect place to implement such a project.

The Trellis and Zero123 seems like for image input only, so thats not a variant if I can’t just give ugly b&w sketch to it.

Though Trellis does its job 2x better than Shap-E, only 47k tris and i got a decent boot for my stylistic with textures that are not ugly vertexes.

(Originally boot was sideview only, i just drawed some depth, after ai gave me mess on previous try)

Though it got the shoe sole color wrong and its empty inside, i guess because it is completely black and i didn’t give the image transparently. Also would be good if i could set the simplification even less then 0,9.

Does Zero123 maybe allow more simplification and less tris?

If you need low poly have you considered probuilder or umodeler so you build it inside unity?

well for the level prototyping im using probuilder, but it is better to just go to blender to not painfully drag vertices and stuff in Unity official 3D tools in small items case

never under estimate the power of just buying someone else “time”

if these low poly shoes are important for the game by the time you figured out how to make them or how AI 3d generation work you can just buy them from a 3d asset store. sometimes they are listed for free

specifically for 3d ai generation, i’ve not looked in the past couple of months, as long we don’t have the access to run the models locally is a waste of time because as other said, we need to invest both time AND money just to randomly generate stuff that maybe may work or not. hopefully we will have a solution soon like we have with the local stable diffusion models where we can tweak settings figure out an workflow without breaking the bank

Well, this is not the answer at all and at the same time I don’t have ability to pay even 1 cent.

Here is Trellis stuff (dunno about commercial use), much better than Shap-E and even gives UV’s and texture (though it is still not low-poly and on decimating properly texture will need a complete realign):

Here is the:

If you have Linux, Win 11 you can install it locally, btw only 6 Gb VRAM, but no commercial use without buying license(?).

Edit:
But you have to go through this mess to install and generate for at least 3 minutes:

Anyways I’m non-commercial currently. (does it work on Windows 10?)

Also there is literally 1 free boot by “boot”/“s” and 0 in “shoe”/“s” on asset store:

(though good enough for prop, even considering its a woman’s one. But again not fitting the low-low-poly needs)

Depends on your blender skills, as someone with zero blender skills and who finds it very unintuative, being able to work in a similar environment is a bonus, unmodeler works different to probuilder, it doesnt do large things like zones, but it does do props very well

does it have something like modifiers or skin modifier that allows to draw few edges and turn them to smoothed model with subdivision surface? (You can nvm, as I mentioned i can’t pay even a cent)

I too actually not above 100 proper hours in Blender modeling, though watched some videos, but already forgot them.

Btw Blender easy mode is to enable search on Space, easy to find there what needed than to cry in UI and shortcuts.

umodler aboslutely has smoothing, I think probuilder does too - not needed it as Ive been mainly using that for mapping out rooms in a dungeon, but, for me, I struggle so much with blender because its so different to unity, and unity is really the only 3d thing ive used… I did once, following a tutorial make a well (eg water well) in blender you know it took me a week? with stuff inside unity i could make the same in a day… now ok, 3d artists are crying laughing it takes me a day, but i feel at home… Plus, once youre 100% on it, you can save it as fbx and frankly its all but the same as having done it in blender… so, you can even not have it loaded in your project and have a “building” project where you make things

ok, but i was talking not about smooth shading, but about something like this
(btw you can easily make apples this way, with screw and displace etc. ones):

In the amount of time you’ve spent trying to get this to work, you could have produced better results by watching beginner tutorials for Blender.

If i had a faintest clue what those do, as its not clear other than the branch smoothing perhaps…

Nope, as I shown you, I spent 2h on a simple boot (which is still more than i spent on this topic), just because the “make it as low-poly as possible” got in my head again and i was singing a song about a boot and its root.

I could actually stopped at 3 edges with Skin modifier and just applied some single color mats to needed parts or used gradient color palette to get the “AO” feel and putted needed UV’s intro there, marked some seams, it would be more finished actually than the result I got and for less time.

P.S.
By the way you seem so confident every time, do you have a YouTube channel or could record how you make a decent model? I’d like to see, actually.

STOP USING THE SKIN MODIFER. JUST DOWNLOAD AN IMAGE OF A BOOT YOU NEED TO USE AS A REFERENCE.

The skin modifier has its uses but it is not a magical “make my model for me” button. You need to start from the beginning and stop trying to use AI and various other shortcuts because they’re going to keep you from ever learning how to actually use your tools effectively. Here. Make a chair.
